HEADRUSH spearheaded the establishment of a Brain Tumor Research Professorship at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center through the UW Department of Human Oncology.
A professorship is an EVERLASTING source of research funds prestigiously awarded to a faculty member at a University, similar to an endowed chair. In our case, the UW doctor that receives the HEADRUSH Brain Tumor Research Professorship will have a focus and passion for significantly improving the future of brain tumor research, treatment, and survivorship, just like all the supporters of HEADRUSH. The doctor who is awarded this professorship will ONLY be able to use the interest earned on the account, in part securing the longevity of the funds, and allowing the HEADRUSH Brain Tumor Research Professorship to last forever. The fund is managed and invested by the UW Foundation, so the research fund itself will last in perpetuity.
It takes a minimum of $500,000 to establish a research professorship with the UW Foundation. Each year, with our raised funds, we added to our growing "pot" until were able to reach the $500,000 mark. Now that the professorship is established, our current goal is to increase our fund to $1M, because... more money=more interest=more research.
